Multimedia & Graphic Design

Develop your skills and creative confidence while earning certifications in industry-standard software packages! Learners in this pathway will complete a 15-credit certificate in Fundamentals of Multimedia Technology.

Students will explore a range of multimedia software applications and develop basic multimedia skills. Students may opt to complete this pathway with an honors designation. All courses in this pathway apply directly toward the Associate of Applied Science degree in Graphic Design from FRCC. 

This pathway is new for 2021-2022 and will run all year. Students will earn up to 15 concurrent enrollment credits at FRCC and, in addition to earning a FRCC Certificate in Fundamentals of Multimedia Tech, they have the option of sitting for their certifications in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Course Description

This course oncentrates on the high-end capabilities of Adobe Photoshop as an illustration, design and photo retouching tool. Students explore a wide range of selection and manipulation techniques that can be applied to photos, graphics and videos. Course competencies and outline follow those set out by the Adobe Certified Associate exam in Visual Communication Using Adobe Photoshop.

Course Description

This course introduces students to InDesign, a page layout program which integrates effortlessly with other Adobe design programs. InDesign delivers creative freedom and productivity to DTP. Class discussions and independent projects supplement hands-on classroom work.

Course Description

Come get unschooled. Let your curiosity and imagination guide your learning journey as you develop skills and mindsets necessary to build a better world.

Through engaging, relevant, and authentic projects, students will hone workforce readiness and professional skills, by working on dynamic and collaborative teams. Entrepreneurship and literacy are integrated through examination of personal strengths and areas of growth via investigation into the topics of resilience, self-awareness, and communication. These areas have been identified through collaboration with industry partners and higher education professionals.  This course will provide 5 credits toward the Language Arts graduation requirement

This is a semester long course that will allow students to integrate literacy, entrepreneurship, and essential professional skills. Students will engage in units that will explore self-awareness, communication, and resilience throughout the course.  Within each of these units students will have the opportunity to analyze and create written pieces reflective of topics relevant to them.
