My purpose has always been that all students have access to meaningful and authentic learning opportunities within their community and beyond. Student-centered learning environments, where instruction is tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities sets a learning foundation that promotes active engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking. It also allows students to build upon their existing understanding and knowledge through exploration, inquiry, and hands-on experiences. Students rarely enter the classroom with the same background knowledge or life experiences. As educators, we must adapt teaching strategies, content, assessment methods, and programming to accommodate the diverse needs and learning styles of all students. Student-centered learning then allows for an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

As an educator I have nearly two decades of teaching, learning and administrative experience at the middle school and high school levels, as well as at the district level as a Mathematics curriculum facilitator. During my time as an Assistant Principal and Math Teacher at Poudre High School, I had the opportunity to work alongside passionate educators in developing multiple CTE programs, including Agricultural Education (FFA), Geometry in Construction, and Advanced Manufacturing. During this tenure I was also able to assist over 20 PHS teachers to become authorized Front Range Community College instructors, which resulted in PHS being ranked No. 5 in the state for students participating in concurrent enrollment.

I am also a Fort Collins native who has served on the FFA State Board, the Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership, the Woodward Parents in Manufacturing Committee, and various CTE advisory boards. Through these connections, coupled with strategic leadership, I hope to create new and improved opportunities for PSD students to engage in powerful learning experiences through CTE. All my life I have had a passion for hands-on, authentic learning. I’m excited to expand Futures Lab pathways, engage more students in relevant learning and create a solid talent pipeline for our industry partners.

Outside of work, I am a family man with a wife and two children, ages 5 and 11. When not at school, you can find me working on cars, boating, gardening, woodworking, and playing with my family in the great outdoors.
